Push Past the Fog
By:
Husam (Sam) Salman
Who peered at you with sideways smile
That thing that you wore that day…that…that was hot
You would have slapped me if you read my mind
Like that night by the barn, that kiss was everything!
Like the fog could not lift, you stood there haunting me
The tap-tap-tap on the glass told me the skies were finally
Dousing LA, like us, when we were naked - Fucking
That moment will live eternal, etched in the heavens
Glistened by the light as drops fell on steaming shoulders stood
Between here and the streetlight.
A spark in the sky cast shadows giants deep
Eager was the kiss – F-F-F-F-f-f-f-u-uck YEAH….!!!
Like a prophet, things came from a place of meaning
Creating a deeper inner enlightenment with every word
With every kiss blessed upon these lips.
It was like the clouds were parting
And I was slowly drying
Arid land, parched and nearing
But only at arm’s length at times
I could taste a resolution around some blind turn.
That connection was a slow smile
Bought on by awkward conversation
Over some noodle dish neither one was enjoying
Suddenly looking for that silver lining, darkness inevitable.
I swore there was lightning yesterday, peering at me
With a sideways smile, that thing that you wore that day
…that…that was hot, you would have slapped me if
You read my mind…like that night by the barn,
THAT kiss was everything.
