Cathartic Shame

Cathartic Shame
By: Husam (Sam) Salman

In the early morning light
wrestling with my last dream
There, the tale of sin emerged,
the moment and clamor
of dueling forces welling within.
Where are you men of birds?
Aidos and Nemesis run hand in hand
One flexes the possibility
the other adjusts who falter,

How are hands forced
so unwillingly they:
Call others out for graceless states of age?
Mock the status of your dated wardrobe aloud?
Talk shit about you
For your overtly feminine attributes,
while I spout designer names
And pop idol TV quotes?

Free tongues wag limitless entitled pride.
Manner, an ethical free verse ride
Where truth is perception
And justice keeps going blind,

My sharing creates circles
That spread thought like a virus
My ideas sound so great
You now believe them too.

What will you share
To be known as your legacy?
